A traditional Danish dish, æbleflæsk is literally translated to "apple" and "pork" or "bacon." It's very easy to make and is amazingly delicious!
1 apple (sliced and diced)
3 strips of bacon (cut into 1" x 1" squares)
1 small onion (sliced) [I used shallots instead]
1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
1 egg (optional)
Fry bacon for a few minutes until crispy. Remove bacon from the pan and set aside. Put all the apple slices and onions in the same pan with the bacon drippings. Fry for a few minutes. When the apples and onions are semi-soft, add the sugar then stir to coat evenly. After 10 minutes it should be ready to be served. Add a sunny side up egg to brighten up your day! Velbekomme!
