Coffee - FIKA
When it comes to people who know quality coffee from chain stores, they always go to FIKA. I discovered FIKA back when I was still in college and looking to feed my nostalgia coming straight from Finland. While FIKA is actually Swedish, it did the job. Fika in Swedish means having a coffee or tea break with some treat. Since their first couple of branches near Central Park, they have multiplied all over NYC and I'm glad there's one near every office I've ever worked at. You'll always spot architects and designers in FIKA. For their locations, click here.
Carry-on Luggage - Muji
This was the first proper piece of luggage I have ever owned. From my knowledge they are phasing out this design but I would still recommend it. You can get the last few pieces here. I have been using Everlane's Weekender Bag for a while during my recent travels but found the strap length a little uncomfortable. This perfectly sized 4-wheel carry-on was definitely much more convenient.
Enamel and Cast Iron Skillet - Copco
Old but new, this skillet is my first cast iron kitchen addition. It was a little difficult finding a new one since it is no longer produced; however, I was able to spot it recently. I believe this was from 1970-1980. I opted for something more unique compared to the generic black cast iron pan. It's the perfect size and has that Scandinavian flair that I was looking for.
Birta Lift & Glow - Sóley Organics
Virtually unheard of when I first got them back when I stopped over in Iceland 6 years ago, Sóley Organics is now a proud international natural skincare brand. I grabbed some products last January when I was there and fell in love all over again. The past few weeks have been eventful and my skin was in dire need of some TLC. This anti-aging moisturizer kept it in check.
Reporter Pad - Moleskine
I am literally on my third one this year. Definitely a favorite. I find that the writing experience on the reporter style notebook is better than that of the traditional horizontal notebook. The last few pages are perforated so it can be torn off. That feature is always handy when you're sketching and writing down reminders.
